Protecting children.
Strengthening families.
Building brighter futures.
Nazhoen Lamtoen was born from a deeply personal understanding of what it means when children lack protection, care and support.
What began as a small initiative has grown into a Bhutanese civil society organisation working alongside children, families, communities and partners across the country. While the organisation has evolved over the years, its purpose remains unchanged: helping vulnerable children access the support, opportunities and connections they need to build brighter futures. Today, Nazhoen Lamtoen works across multiple areas of child protection and child wellbeing, supporting children in difficult circumstances, children in conflict with the law, families, caregivers and communities throughout Bhutan.
What we do
Children may face different challenges at different stages of their lives. Some need immediate protection and support. Others need opportunities to reconnect with family, continue their education, rebuild confidence or prepare for a more positive future.
Nazhoen Lamtoen works across six Areas of Work that together help prevent harm, respond to child protection concerns, provide shelter and care when needed, support rehabilitation and reintegration, strengthen families and communities, and contribute to systems that better protect and support children.
This work is carried out in partnership with government agencies, local communities, schools, civil society organisations and development partners who share a commitment to improving outcomes for children.

Why it matters
Children do not grow up in isolation.
Their lives are shaped by families, communities and the systems around them. When these support structures are strong, children are more likely to be safe, supported and able to thrive. When they are weakened, children can become increasingly vulnerable to harm, exclusion and lost opportunities.
For this reason, Nazhoen Lamtoen works not only with children, but also with families, communities and institutions. By strengthening the environments around children, the organisation seeks to create positive and lasting change that extends beyond individual interventions.
Looking ahead
The challenges facing children continue to evolve, and so does the work required to address them.
Guided by its vision, mission and values, Nazhoen Lamtoen continues to strengthen child protection systems, support vulnerable children and families, and develop sustainable approaches that contribute to safer and more supportive environments for children across Bhutan.
While programmes may evolve and new priorities emerge, the organisation’s commitment remains constant: helping children realise their potential and creating opportunities for brighter futures.
