Diversion programme expands across 11 districts

Nazhoen Lamtoen completed community mapping for its juvenile justice diversion programme in Trashigang, Tsirang and Sarpang, bringing the programme’s reach to 11 districts and more than 80 partner organisations through signed Memoranda of Understanding.

The diversion programme provides an alternative approach for children in conflict with the law, with the aim of preventing unnecessary involvement in the criminal justice system. At the time of this update, Nazhoen Lamtoen had delivered diversion services to more than 50 children in conflict with the law.

The two-day programme brought together representatives from the Royal Bhutan Police, Judiciary, education and health sectors, community volunteer groups, gewog leaders and Civil Society Organisation partners.

Nazhoen Lamtoen acknowledges UNICEF Bhutan for its technical and funding support.
