Nineteen children from five chiwogs of Lajab Gewog, Dagana participated in five days of community mapping and five days of community sensitisation as part of the development of a community-led child protection mechanism.
The process encouraged communities to consider child protection issues from children’s perspectives and strengthen children’s participation in local decision-making.
The next phase was designed to train community members and form Community Child Protection Teams as frontline responders, supporting awareness, referrals and coordinated responses for children.
The initiative received funding support from UNICEF Bhutan and technical guidance from the National Commission for Women and Children and The PEMA, with support from Dagana Dzongkhag Administration and local gewog administrations.
